Run, Lola, Run

Run, Lola, Run

Those 90-or-so minutes sure went by really quick when I was watching the movie. The appropriately titled movie is all about Lola and her running to save Manni, her boyfriend; and the running made the entire movie so fast-paced that it felt like it ended so soon. One of the first things I noticed was Lola’s weirdness especially compared to the way the “regular” people are dressed (save for the hobo) – she has wild, red hair, with half a top and mint-green pajamas/pants. Her room has that really old form of telephone [while her mom has a wireless telephone] and has a turtle on the floor, for some reason. It emphasizes Lola’s weirdness as if she wasn’t unusual already.

One of the best things about the movie was the cinematic effects, for sure. Everything was shot and edited so beautifully and cleverly yet it retains a feeling of having to rush. The music was standout among all else. From the fast beats of the techno music [which sound really great, if I might add] to that song that went “What a difference a day makes”, it was all appropriate, somewhat funny and for some reason sounded like it was chanting on Lola to run faster. The effect of the sound of the camera to the fast flashing of photos of some of the people’s futures adds to the curiosity especially when things went by differently per “round” of the same story.

Easily my favorite movie of all the seven selections [with “City of God” and “Pan’s Labyrinth” as a close second and third], “Run Lola Run” was such a thrill to watch and keeps one’s eyes glued to the TV or monitor or what have you for the entire duration of the movie.
